Universal Studios Hollywood to Celebrate Chinese New Year 2017

Universal Studios Hollywood looks to be the number one place in the United States to celebrate Chinese New Year. The event is included in the price of theme park admission and will take place from Saturday, Jan. 21 to Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.

In what has become a tradition in the park for years, Megatron will be speaking Mandarin during certain parts of the day just outside of Transformers: The Ride.  In addition, characters like Curious George, Woody Woodpecker, and DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda stars, Po and Tigress, will be wearing traditional Chinese attire.

In addition, there will be decorations in Universal Plaza, such as a curtain of customary red Chinese lanterns and a stunning plum blossom arch. Inside they will encounter a dozen lampposts, each featuring banners of the twelve zodiac animal signs along with three symbolic attributes. A selection of Asian-inspired treats will also be available, including pastries decorated with the Chinese characters for “Rooster” and “Fortune.”

Oddly enough, even though I don’t speak Mandarin, I have actually taken the Mandarin version of the world-famous Studio Tram Tour. One of my best friends is fluent in the language and wanted to see what it was like. This live experience via a Mandarin-speaking guide is offered daily (check your times guide when entering the park) and is one of the few Mandarin offerings in the country.

We look forward to see this and other offerings from Universal Studios Hollywood throughout the year!
