Universal Orlando’s Horror Make Up Show Recreated in Miniature by Mega Fan

If you’ve never seen The Horror Make Up Show at Universal Studios Florida, have you really even been to the park? It still stands as the heartbeat of the park and is an absolute must see every time I visit. Now, a super fan has taken the show and shrunk it down to the tiniest detail.

Brittany Dwinnell has created miniatures of several of her favorite attractions that are inspired by Universal Orlando attractions for several years. Seen above, the truck from Twister with “Dorothy” in the back!

Here is a great throwback to the finale scene from Jaws at Universal Studios Florida also made by Brittany.

However, it was the set of the Horror Make Up Show that really is over the top. Every tiny detail was recreated down to the busts that line the stage and counter tops.

According to Brittany, the process was daunting, but exciting. “Over the last few years in my spare time I decided to build things from attractions I love, each one in a different medium or with different techniques so I can stretch myself creatively. HMU was always something I wanted to do, but I felt like it was too difficult. Recently debating what I wanted to do next the idea kind of stuck, and I made sure to get started before I thought too much about how I’d stock the shelves.”

When asked how she made this elaborate set, she said: “Framed in wood, the stage itself is made of polystyrene sheet, limbs and larger props are made of Sculpy, and the bins were cast in resin. As for the marquee, that was sculpted and cast with resin as well with metal wire for the neon tubes. As I started this project when we entered lock down here, I had to get creative with what I had lying around, so everything is 100% built by hand.”

Personally, this is the best fan tribute to Universal Orlando I’ve ever seen. The Horror Make Up Show remains the best comedy show running in a theme park today. More importantly, I’m excited to see what other tributes Brittany creates next!
