Universal Orlando Borrows Elements from Kong and Universal Hollywood Tram Tour for Fast & Furious Supercharged

As we have hinted about for months now, details have been released for the Fast & Furious – Supercharged ride headed to Universal Studios Florida.  Yes, it’s an attraction utilizing mostly screens, but who would have taken the bet it would be anything else but?  Where it gets interesting is that this is really a combination of two existing attractions within Universal Parks.

As revealed on the Universal Parks Blog, the behind-the-scenes video that is being advertised is the exact same one that was used to market the Fast & Furious ending for the Studio Tram Tour when it debuted several years ago. While this ride utilizes a different ride system than the trams in California, the visuals will be nearly identical on those screens that Universal loves very very much.

Now the ride system will be identical to the trucks that are currently used at Skull Island: Reign of Kong over at Islands of Adventure. Only the outer shell of the vehicle has been rethemed to the Fast and Furious franchise.  Not only that, but the ride layout mimics Kong’s exactly.  That’s right, beat for beat, this attraction will have the exact same elements at Kong over at Islands of Adventure complete with immersive screen tunnels at the end.  Good news, there will be no oversized Kong figure at the end of this attraction.

We will talk about the virtual line aspect of the Fast & Furious attraction in the near future, as this will be how guests visit new Universal attractions moving forward. But for now, how do you feel about Universal recycling ride systems and previously shot footage between parks? It’s hardly a new practice with Transformers, Shrek and other attractions being duplicated, but does it make you want to visit all of their parks less?  Or are you still a die-hard fan either way?
