Out of all the brands NBC/Universal owns, none may be more iconic than Saturday Night Live. Love it or hate it, the show has been a Saturday night tradition since 1975 and has been responsible for the biggest names in comedy. We currently have reason to believe that SNL will be getting their first dedicated venue opening at Universal Orlando CityWalk in 2021.

This all comes from a push via Comcast to inject as much intellectual property into Universal Parks as possible. If a venue doesn’t have a NBC/Universal brand attached to it? You can bet it’s been considered to be “upgraded” to an IP based restaurant, bar or even gift shop.

We’ve heard for quite some time that after The Today Cafe opened at Universal Studios Florida, the next brand to make it’s way into Universal Orlando would be Saturday Night Live. Not only do we feel very strongly about this rumor, the announcement very well might be in the not-so-distant future.

A member of the Universal Orlando Annual Passholder Facebook group posted the above image this morning. Apparently Kenan Thompson is doing some sort of promos at the park with the Universal globe in the background. Kenan is the longest running cast member in Saturday Night Live history. He would be the perfect cast member to announce this new venue in CityWalk. (Editor’s Note – We have learned this shoot was NOT for a SNL venue in CityWalk. However, we believe the other info in this article is still credible)

Where would this new Saturday Night Live venue go in CityWalk? We believe it’s perfect for the Red Coconut Club in the upper level. It’s a decent size footprint. It has two floors. Most importantly, it could also contain an area dedicated to SNL merchandise in addition to a bar.
If all of this lines up, we think the Red Coconut Club could be closing in the next few months. Thus, we believe a SNL venue could open at CityWalk sometime in 2021. What are your thoughts? Do you think having Saturday Night Live in CityWalk would be a good thing for Orlando? Finally, as always, nothing is confirmed until Universal Orlando says it is and this should be treated as speculation.
