Theme Park Industry Veteran Robbi Lupre Needs Your Assistance

Sometimes you just need an extra boost to get through tough times. A Theme Park University reader recently gave me a heads up about a theme park industry veteran who could use some help during a very difficult period. While you may not know the name Robbi Lupre, you are more than likely familiar with her work and most definitely have been affected by the careers she started.

Known as the “mother” of Busch Gardens Tampa Howl-O-Scream and Christmastown, Robbi Lupre is an unsung hero to many in the theme park industry. With a career that started at Busch Gardens Tampa in 1979, Lupre has devoted her entire life to the park and its special events and live entertainment offerings.  She’s currently the Director of Theatrical Services for Busch Gardens Tampa and has been for over 16 years.

More importantly, Robbi Lupre has been responsible for giving many people in the theme park industry their first big break.  Veterans such as Michael Roddy (Creative Entertainment and Show Writer for Walt Disney World), Mike Aiello (Senior Director of Creative Development for Universal Studios Florida), Brian Morrow (Vice President of Theme Park Experience Design at Sea World Entertainment) and many more. The number of careers she has touched in this industry is staggering. Unfortunately, Lupre is going through some health issues and insurance is not covering many of the costs associated with several spinal issues as well as glaucoma which is causing her to lose vision in both eyes.

Friends, family and theme park industry veterans are starting to rally around a GoFundMe page for Robbi Lupre to try and keep some of these health care costs manageable. If you have a moment to check out her page and spare just a few dollars, anything helps. Even if you click on who has already contributed, it reads like a laundry list of “who’s who” in the themed entertainment industry. Thanks for your support.
