Theme Park Closes Due to Employee Contracting COVID-19

Could this be a trend among theme parks this summer? We have just learned a theme park has an employee that contracted COVID-19. As a result, they have closed their gates for two days to do a deep clean and will reopen on June 8.

Known as “The Park at OWA” located in Alabama, they just recently released the following statement:

For the health and safety of our Team Members and Guests, it is our responsibility to share that a Park at OWA Team Member has tested positive for COVID-19. Upon learning of suspected symptoms on Friday, July 3, the Team Member was immediately sent home for further medical care. We have been, and will continue, following health officials recommended best practices for operations as set forth by their guidelines.

To further deep clean and sanitize, The Park at OWA will remain temporarily closed on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7. We plan to reopen on Wednesday, July 8 as scheduled.

The health and safety of The Park at OWA’s Team Members and our Guests remains a top priority. Should you have questions regarding OWA’s response to COVID-19 please contact info@visitowa.com.

Keep in mind, on Friday, July 3rd the park announced it’s mask policy as follows:

Right now, putting on a face covering to go into a business is just as important as buckling up before riding a roller coaster. New guidance requires that all OWA Guests wear a face covering when entering any indoor business or attraction on property… but wait! You don’t have to wear your face covering when enjoying food or drink, or when you’re relaxing at any of our amazing outdoor areas throughout Downtown OWA and the amusement park. It’s safe, it’s smart, and we have free face coverings if you forgot yours!

It’s important to Know Before You Go, so check out some FAQs and more information on new guidelines here: www.VisitOWA.com/KnowBeforeYouGo
