Guaranteed, this trend will start popping up all over the world. Lionsgate will be opening its first standalone attraction known as Lionsgate Entertainment City. This micro theme park, slated to open in New York City’s Times Square by spring 2019, will feature several unique attractions from the Lionsgate Studio catalog.
According to a recent press release, Lionsgate Entertainment City will feature a “Mad Men” dining and lounge experience, a “Divergent” themed obstacle course, and a “John Wick” shooting ride. In addition, there are attractions that do not have an intellectual property attached to them just yet. These include a 4D theater and a virtual reality attraction, including a Nerve VR motorcycle experience.
In addition, just like a full-sized theme park, Lionsgate Entertainment City will feature Peeta’s Bakery inspired by “The Hunger Games.” Naturally, there will also be a gift shop and dining location featuring Lionsgate branded food and merchandise.
