Make no mistake about it, 2017 will be the year virtual reality explodes into theme parks around the world. Just this morning, Knotts Berry Farm in Southern California announced a new VR attraction that will open in summer 2017.
A new extra-charge attraction is being created with the help of VRstudios, a leading company in virtual reality technology. Christian Dieckmann, Cedar Fair’s Vice President of Strategic Growth, said in a recent press release, “Our collaboration with VRstudios to develop a new custom-built, immersive amusement experience at Knott’s Berry Farm is exciting for our customers and consistent with the memorable experiences they expect from our parks.”
“We chose VRstudios for our inaugural free-roaming VR installation because of their successful track record providing VR globally for other location-based entertainment venues. No other VR company can offer a truly untethered multi-player experience. We believe the planned attraction will amaze our guests and encourage repeat visits.”
While specific details have not been released regarding what the virtual reality attraction will entail, something tells me that more Cedar Fair parks might be receiving this new technology as well. Your thoughts?
