Get Ready for A Record Number of Brazilian Tour Groups in Orlando for 2018

The next time you’re visiting a park in Orlando, be prepared for even more giant groups in matching t-shirts following a brightly colored flag.  According to a report released by the Orlando International Airport, a record number of Brazilian tour groups are expected to fly into Orlando and visit Central Florida attractions in 2018.

According to a Reuters story in January 2018, Brazil’s economy may see a growth of between 3.5 and 4 percent. This leads to not only additional household spending but more investments which is giving the economy a much-needed boost.

To put that into perspective, a press release just published by Orlando International Airport quotes Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, as saying, “Brazil is back! And this resurgence from our third largest international market brings a welcomed boost to the local economy. With the recent additional seats from Brazil, the projected economic impact for 2018 is nearly $1 billion, up 111% from 2013.”

Those numbers are absolutely HUGE.  To give you an idea for what that means in terms of how that affects the Orlando International Airport, they said, “Scheduled seats from Brazil to Orlando for this year is 486,000, a new record. The previous record high was 361,000 set prior to the Brazilian recession.”

The reason I bring this up, is remember those price increases that were just put in place at Disney and Universal? Sure ya do. Inevitably, people moan about the price increases every time and complain about how they can no longer afford it. Orlando is an international tourism market. The days are long gone from making sure locals of every price bracket can afford a trip to the parks. Price increases are far more complicated than what you, your income and your budget can afford.  Your thoughts?
