I know most people who read theme park blogs like this follow (worship?) primarily Disney and Universal attractions. However, there are a few parks outside of the Disney/Universal bubble that have some amazing themed attractions that are right up there with Disney quality. Today I just have to share some video of a new dark ride that just opened at Eftling, an enchantingly strange theme park about an hour outside of Amsterdam.
Efteling has created their own dark rides for decades now and if you’re unfamiliar with the park (and are a fan of dark rides) you have to dig around to see just how unique this park truly is. Their newest creation, known as Symbolica is easily their finest creation yet. Let’s take a look at the pre-show, shall we?
Not only is the set amazing, the animatronics are extremely well executed. And this may be my favorite entrance to a dark ride ever! Now the ride itself is a trackless vehicle that is very reminiscent of Hong Kong Disneyland’s Mystic Manor. However, each ride vehicle is somewhat unique in that there are a few portions of the attraction others don’t get to see. Take a look below!
Efteling actually posted the POV from all four ride vehicles on their YouTube channel along with the source audio soundtrack. Also worth mentioning, this soundtrack is absolutely stunning. If Symbolica doesn’t win some awards at next year’s THEA’s, I’ll be shocked. It’s just incredible. Take another ride through!
If anything, regardless of if you are a hardcore Disney or Universal fan (me too!), I highly encourage you to look outside of those bubbles every once in a while. Even if you don’t speak the language or can’t follow the story, you can appreciate the artistry that was put into a ride like Symbolica. Truly the most amazing dark ride to open in 2017!
