The Harry Potter Studio Tour is one of London’s top attractions. Since opening in 2013, it has grown and expanded to include new scenes, props and interactive experiences. Now it seems that there could be another Harry Potter Studio Tour opening in Tokyo by 2023!
For those unfamiliar with the Harry Potter Studio Tour, it gives guests a behind-the-scenes peek at what it was like to make the films. There are no rides or shows in this attraction (unlike Universal Parks). Instead, you’ll find actual props, costumes and set pieces from the films.
With eight movies in the can, Warner Brothers has a ton of Harry Potter film pieces that haven’t been displayed for the public yet. More importantly, the ones in London can be rotated out to other Harry Potter tours which I believe is where Tokyo comes in.
According to recent local news reports, an amusement park known as Toshimaen will be closing this year in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Warner Brothers is in talks to buy part of that existing infrastructure to turn it into The Making of Harry Potter Tokyo Studio Tour.
In addition, they will also transform other areas into a new entertainment destination, which hasn’t been disclosed at this time. Since Thinkwell designed the original Harry Potter Studio Tour in London, it’s a fair bet that this one will also be created by the same group. Finally, this is not official yet and according to reports, but we should know sometime in the spring if an announcement will be made!
