Growing up in Atlanta, the global headquarters for Coca-Cola, you get used to something. When you order sweet, brown, fizzy liquid in a restaurant, it’s never referred to as pop, soda, Pepsi, or anything other than Coke. Recently, I got to visit the World of Coca-Cola located in downtown Atlanta to find out just how much this drink is ingrained into our culture.
Upon entering the World of Coca-Cola, you are handed a fancy aluminum bottle of either Coke, Diet Coke or Coke Zero as you wait for the pre-show begin. This trend continues throughout your visit. There is no shortage of sugary liquids and, as a result, sometimes the floors can get a little sticky.
Scattered throughout the massive building are various mini-attractions that you can explore at your own pace. There are a ton of Coke history pieces like these vintage vending machines seen above.
There are also a ton of Coke products that I had no idea were distributed by the company on display.
Anyone ever heard of Mickey Mouse chocolate milk?
There are meet and greets with the famous Coca-Cola bear in the main atrium of the attraction.
One of my favorite parts of the World of Coca-Cola was this theater dedicated to vintage commercials. Some of these really take me back!
They even have a 4-D theater complete with moving seats and in-theater effects!
Naturally, there is a room filled with dozens of Coke products from around the world you can sample.
Stations are broken down by continent and feature around 30 varieties of sugary beverages to sample from each one.
As you leave you get to grab a glass bottle of Coca-Cola Classic to take with you on the road!
