Dolly Parton’s Unheard Song To Be Released on Her 100th Birthday Sits Practically Hidden at Dollywood

Recently I got to spend some time at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Even though it’s one of my top 5 favorite parks on earth, I had never visited Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort.

If you’ve never been, the resort is breathtakingly gorgeous. DreamMore is just a few steps away from Dollywood Park.

Naturally, there are tributes to Dolly Parton scattered all around the resort. One of my favorite spots was this album wall featuring all the covers from Dolly’s LPs over the years.

However, it was this display case that caught my eye and I nearly walked past it. Located underneath the grand staircase on the lower level of the lobby sits this unmarked plexiglass box.

Located inside this locked chestnut “Dream Box” is a time capsule that Dolly Parton herself put together. Here’s what makes the box so fascinating, literally no one knows what is inside it aside from Dolly. She’s written a song called “My Place in History” which will be released on her 100th birthday. To my knowledge, no major recording artist has ever done this.

If you were busy trying to get to the restaurant or the pool, you’d run right past this literal piece of hidden treasure. However, if you ever find yourself at the DreamMore Resort at Dollywood definitely seek this out!
