Could “Destination Dining” Be The Next Big Themed Entertainment Venture?

Personally, whenever I travel to a new city I seek out unique themed dining locations. I’ll take in anything from historical to cheesy to a dinner show. With rare exceptions, the dining experience hasn’t really evolved in the last twenty years. We all remember the explosion of 90’s chain themed restaurants like Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe and Mars 2112. Now, Legacy Entertainment is looking to open “Destination Dining” venues around the globe.

Legacy believes that these “Destination Dining” experiences could anchor plazas and hotels in the future, rather than retail. “The future of Retail is not Retail” says Barry Kemper, Chief Operating Officer and co-owner of Legacy Entertainment. “While shopping habits may evolve and change, the desire to dine together is intrinsic to the human experience. It’s here to stay, and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of how far we can take it,” adds Mr. Kemper. “Of course this is not to say dining will replace retail, but we do anticipate that the anchor tenants of the 21st Century will put a priority on dining and entertainment.”

The idea is to make these venues unique and compliment them to the city and surrounding area they are anchored in. Each destination will feature unique environments, perhaps live entertainment and even an ride/attraction component as well.

One of these venues is about to be announced this Summer! We are looking forward to getting those details and seeing where “Destination Dining” goes in the future.
