The final piece of the Harambe Village Marketplace opened to guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
While the open air food court outside may offer more exotic theme park food, the Sweet Shop gives guests a newer variety of food options not seen in Walt Disney World gift shops before.
Hardcore Disney fans will tell you that a highlight of visiting Tokyo Disneyland is to try all the dozen or so flavors of popcorn. You can find anything from strawberry to honey to black pepper to curry and beyond.
While not freshly popped, Zuri’s Sweet Shop takes a step in that direction with uniquely flavored popcorn you can only find in Animal Kingdom.
If you’re afraid to try the more exotic flavors, there are more traditional varieties that are kid-friendly.
Speaking of kid-friendly, the tradition of decorating apples continues in Zuri’s Sweet Shop.
Notice even the trays the food items sit on are themed and not your standard white plates found in every other sweet shop at Walt Disney World.
Remember the days when merchandise found at Walt Disney World would often say “Disney Parks” and be a generic version of a t-shirt you could find at all four theme parks as well as Disneyland?
We have moved into new territory where we are not only getting park specific merchandise, but items that pertain to particular restaurants. You can now take home Flame Tree Barbecue Sauce.
This is not to say the shop doesn’t feature a few generic items. However, most of Zuri’s Sweet Shop features items you can only buy at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It will be interesting to see how this location does with its unique items as Disney fans have been asking for this for quite some time.
Also worth mentioning, the new Starbucks location should be opening at Animal Kingdom very soon.
Creature Comforts had Cast Members doing an employee preview of the last of the four Starbucks locations opening in the four Walt Disney World theme parks.
