Located just outside the gates of Shanghai Disneyland is another park that’s on Disney’s property and completely free to the public!
To put this into perspective, Wishing Star Park encompasses the entire area around the lake seen in the picture above. Winding paths will take you to various sections of the park on a trail that takes right around an hour by foot to make the entire loop.
The project was a combined effort between Disney and the Chinese government. This is very much a public park that you’d find in most major cities around the world, complete with areas to relax, playgrounds, and even performance spaces.
You’ll notice at the front of the park there are admission booths. Originally, the plan was to charge a fee to enter the park. The idea was to have special entertainment at the amphitheater located inside. For now, there are no performances so admission remains free for the foreseeable future.
The website describes Wishing Star Park as, “A Perfect Place to Embrace Nature: Unwind amid peaceful scenery and lush greenery as heavenly sights and sounds abound all around you. Located along the shoreline of a beautiful lake, Wishing Star Park is calling—offering Guests from Shanghai and the world abroad a chance to indulge in the splendor of nature. Here, along a 2.5-kilometer walk, you can relax the body and mind while immersing your senses in the atmosphere of a breathtaking wetland.”
The park has all kinds of spots to sit back and relax as it serves as a contrast to Disney’s bustling theme park just steps away.
Inside the park you’ll find these sunflower cell phone charging stations. The idea is you can charge your cell phones using solar energy stored from the top of the sunflower!
Located within Wishing Star Park is Dragonfly Playground. A place where kids can expend extra energy while parents rest their feet.
Come back next time and we will take a walk around Disney Town and some of the unique nods to Disney history scattered throughout the complex!
