I noticed something a bit strange while walking between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland during my visit to Shanghai Disneyland. In the space between the two lands there was… well… an open field.
However, the ground has already been cleared! The picture above was taken from within the park, not behind the scenes. There is also land beyond the wall in that picture as well. Just to the left of this was the most interesting piece of evidence.
Believe it or not, you can see this oversized flower pot and those restrooms while walking through Shanghai Disneyland. I knew I had seen that green structure somewhere before, but couldn’t put my finger on it.
The picture above is from Disneyland Studios Paris in their Toy Story Land. Granted, the green building is a queue for Toy Soldier’s Parachute Drop (the army green structure is used for restrooms in Shanghai), but the architecture of the building is nearly identical.
When I arrived back in Orlando, I decided to research what the park’s original plans were and I found the above image in Disney Parks Wikipedia. While it is not the clearest image, you’ll notice that the orange colored land in the northeast quadrant of the map is labeled Toy Story Playland.
While none of the attractions listed are visible from the park, the Celebration Cafe most certainly is.
The picture above is what it looks like from the park map.
And here it is in the actual park. This was fully visible from the park when walking from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. The plan is for Celebration Cafe to be open by Shanghai Disneyland’s grand opening in June. What do you think? Am I on to something or does it seem like just a wild guess?
