Thousands of Disneyland Artifacts To Be Auctioned In Los Angeles
How many times have you been strolling through Disneyland and saw a piece of art, a statue or even an animatronic and thought “How do I get that (legally) back into my house?” Well now is your chance.
Starting Friday February 7th, Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, California will be hosting The Story of Disneyland Collection and Auction just up the road from The Walt Disney Studios. In total, the exhibition will encompass over 1,000 pieces that date all the way back to 1955.
Like an original Jungle Cruise attraction poster…
…. or an original animatronic bird from the Enchanted Tiki Room! (estimated to go between $20,000 to $25,000)
Many of the items being aucitioned are from Walt’s hands like this miniature pot belly stove which was painted by the man himself (estimated between $15,000 and $20,000).
Other highlights include the cigar store indian that stood in Fronteirland (estimated between $15,000 and 20,000).
Or this skeleton featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean (going for $60,000 to $90,000).
“This collection is beyond extraordinary,” said Mike Van Eaton, Founder & President of Van Eaton Galleries. “The breadth of this vintage collection and the rarity of the memorabilia are a true testament to the genius of Walt Disney. It tells the story of Disneyland from the beginning like we have never seen before and I am sure we won’t ever see again.”
The collection literally has a little bit of everything from Disneyland including several first year cast member ID badges, in-house ride manuals and procedures, pre-opening employee packets as well as original shopping bags, popcorn boxes, menus, souvenirs and much more.
