Shanghai Disneyland Prepares for Chinese New Year

Just like newborns, theme parks have their own set of firsts. This year, Shanghai Disneyland is celebrating its first Chinese New Year.

Preparations are being made all over the park, including new guidemaps, decorations, and more.

A Theme Park University reader recently sent me these photos, so I figured I would share them with you. Keep in mind, Chinese New Year isn’t until Saturday, Jan. 28.

You’ll notice roosters in scattered throughout the decorations, as 2017 is the year of the rooster, according to the Chinese calendar.

Which is why this mosaic of Allan-A-Dale has special Chinese New Year decorations around it in the Garden of the Twelve Friends, just outside of Storybook Castle.

There are dozens of photo ops scattered around  Shanghai Disneyland for Chinese New Year. Many still haven’t been put on display quite yet.

The main display for Chinese New Year lies directly in front of Storybook Castle and features Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy.
