Today we will visit one of my favorite shops in Shanghai Disneyland, Mickey and Minnie’s Mercantile, which is located in Fantasyland adjacent to Peter Pan’s Flight.
The shop is themed to the 1938 Disney short, “The Brave Little Tailor,” and is filled with dozens of details that Disney is famous for.
What I loved most are the many nods to Fantasyland and not just the shop itself. Shanghai’s Fantasyland is set up like a village, so each shop has its own style and detail, but still fit into the theme of the land.
As the theme of the shop goes, Mickey tailors all the clothes while Minnie crafts all the hats.
However, it’s the smaller details that I really loved scattered around Mickey and Minnie’s Mercantile.
Needle and thread were all over the cabinetry and I loved the scissors on the wallpaper.
Scattered throughout the upper shelves were actual antique sewing machines. Also notice the hidden Mickey’s below the scissors.
My absolute favorite detail are the doors to the shop, which are fantastic details that most people will not even notice, with the spools of thread and buttons.
We will cover more of Shanghai Disneyland’s shops like this and their back stories in future articles. Hope you enjoyed!
