Q&A With Guest Who Yelled Out “Lock Him Up” At Hall of Presidents One Week After Opening

By now, you’ve probably heard about the outburst that happened at the Hall of Presidents on December 27th, 2017. A week after the new show opened featuring President Trump debuted, an audience member decided to shout out “Lock Him Up!” repeatedly during the robotic President’s speech. Some people are calling him a hero, while others think he’s an idiot? Therefore, I reached out for an interview with Jay Malsky and he agreed. Enjoy.

JY: Can you give me a little bit of background about yourself?

JM: I’m a comedian and actor living in New York. If you’re ever in town come check out “Jay Malsky Slept With My Boyfriend” at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre Hells Kitchen. It’s a musical!

JY: When you came to the Magic Kingdom on vacation, did you plan on shouting during Trump’s speech when you bought the ticket? Before you walked into the Hall of Presidents? How pre-planned was this?

JM: Donald Trump is a madman with fascist tendencies who has persuaded millions of middle-class Americans to vote against their own interests. I figured a bunch of them would be at this ride and wanted to show their kids what a protest looks like before Trump murders democracy. If people are upset that I disrupted their family vacation, I hope they’ll think about the thousands of children being taken away from their parents because of Trump’s racist immigration policies, or the parents of the hundreds of trans people murdered each year by transphobic and homophobic people, or the negative impacts of the tax bill on poor and middle-income Americans. I encourage anyone outraged that I interrupted a ride at Disney to check their privilege.

JY: Before the outburst, what did you think the audience reaction would be?

JM: I thought I’d win the popular vote but the electoral college would probably override the will of the people.

JY: What did you think Disney’s reaction would be?

JM: The wisdom and compassion of Rafiki with the authoritarian exterior of Scar.

JY: All of the videos I have seen seem to cut off right around the time when audience members start reacting to you. What happens after the video cuts off?

JM: A few folks walked towards me and security came to make sure it didn’t turn into a Trump rally.

JY: What did Disney Security say to you when they approached you?

JM: They asked me to step outside with them and I was like “Yeah absolutely that makes sense.”

JY: Were you taken somewhere for interrogation? If so, how did that go?

JM: A nice security guard came and we talked about Patton Oswalt.

JY: What was the final result of the talk with security? Were you asked to leave the park? Trespassed and not allowed to come back?

JM: Disney security is amazing and they do a great job protecting the millions of people who frequent their parks every day. They could not have been more professional and courteous to me once they made sure I wasn’t a legitimate threat to anyone.

JY: Looking back on it, are you glad you did it? Would you do it again?

JM: I’m probably never going to get to yell at Trump in real life even though we both live in New York because 5th Ave is a NIGHTMARE now that he’s President. I’m really hoping he blocks me on Twitter after this. That or Cher retweeting me. If both those things happen I will die a very happy gay.
