In what may be one of the most bizarre Disney World stories we’ve ever covered, a deal has been reached. Patrick Spikes, former Walt Disney World Cast Member, has pleaded no contest in the stealing and selling of stolen props from Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction.
You may recall, we have been following this story for over a year. Spikes has been in the public eye quite a bit thanks to several pictures released by Orange County Police Department. In the above picture, he can be seen wearing one of the wigs from the Haunted Mansion.
And here he is being interrogated after not wanting to cooperate with authorities giving up his cell phone. While Spikes has to complete 250 hours of community service, there are still many questions left unanswered about this case.
Most importantly, where is Buzzy? According to the interrogation tape that was released in 2019, authorities questioned Spikes about the animatronic. He denied having anything to do with Buzzy going missing. However, court records show that Spikes was in possession of the figure’s clothes at one point.
Also, what happens with his Twitter and YouTube account: Backdoor Disney? On the account he posted backstage video and pictures that he apparently took while working for the mouse. Granted, those accounts were deleted, but the fact that he put it out there has to have some sort of an impact. Is Disney not trying to prosecute him for posting trade secrets about their intellectual property?
We may never have the answers to these questions, but I have a feeling this will not be the last time we hear from Spikes. Check out this photo taken just after the hearing was over this morning. He likes the spotlight. That’s for sure.
