Two new nighttime spectaculars have been announced for Walt Disney World coming in 2019! Both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be receiving brand new shows!
Epcot Forever will replace the long-running Illuminations: Reflections of Earth in fall 2019 until the new permanent replacement is ready for prime-time. Based on what we know, the new show seems like a tribute to Epcot attractions past and present. While we don’t have an official date on when this show will start, we think it could be around Labor Day weekend 2019.
Meanwhile, the replacement for Epcot Forever (and Illuminations) has already been teased as well. The new show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Wonderful World of Animation will be debuting on the Grauman’s Chinese theater in May 2019 as part of the park’s 30th anniversary. The new projection-mapping show will feature a tribute to Disney animation and already feels a bit like a spin-off of World of Color at Disney’s California Adventure. Ya know, without all the fountains.
So what do you think? Are these new additions exciting? Or is it too much change too quickly? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
