Previews have begun over at Shanghai Disneyland, as various groups are being toured around the resort. Today, we are thankful to have a Theme Park University reader who snapped dozens of photos of the Shanghai Disneyland Resort hotels! We will start with The Toy Story Hotel.
Here is easily my favorite fact about the resorts. The Toy Story Hotel is shaped like an infinity symbol (see picture comparison above). This is for two reasons: the number eight is considered lucky in Chinese culture, much like the number seven in American culture. More importantly, this is a tribute to Buzz Lightyear’s “to infinity and beyond!”
Let’s take a walk around the hotel, shall we? Keep in mind, this is considered to be a value resort that is comparable to a Pop Century or All Star at Walt Disney World in terms of price.
The outside of the buildings are all covered in the cloud pattern found in Andy’s wallpaper from the first and second Toy Story films.
That infinity design allows for two courtyards to lie in the center of the hotel. One is dedicated to Buzz Lightyear and the other to Woody.
Now let’s explore the lobby of the Toy Story Hotel.
On the flip side from the value of the Toy Story Hotel is the much more posh Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.
This resort is more posh than the Toy Story Hotel and is meant to be similar to the Grand Floridian in terms of price and market.
Let’s take a walk around the lobby….
Easily my favorite location within the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel is the Bacchus Lounge!
Notice the lounge in the distance says 33 on it. There is a Club 33 located within the Shanghai Disneyland park and this lounge at the hotel has been serving as a temporary location for members who have already signed up until the park opens.
Thanks for taking this tour of Shanghai Disneyland resort hotels with us! Make sure to check back for lots more updates as we get closer to the opening of the park!
