EPCOT Horizons Ultimate Tribute Video by Martin Smith

If you gave me a choice to hop in a time machine and visit one extinct theme park attraction, it would be EPCOT Center’s Horizons. No questions asked. I wouldn’t even give it a second thought. True story: I took the day off of work and rode Horizons non-stop on its last day of operation on January 9, 1999. I still believe that Horizons captured the true spirit of EPCOT better than any other attraction before or since.

Martin Smith has done it again with another ultimate tribute video about the incredible Horizons at EPCOT Center. This film, just like all of his others, is far more than just a ride through of the attraction. Though you’ll definitely get that too!

As always, Smith has dozens upon dozens of conceptual art, construction photos and more. I’ve never seen a Martin Smith Ultimate Tribute film and not learned something and this is no exception.

In this new Horizons tribute, a lot of time is dedicated to the versions of a General Electric attraction that never came to fruition.  Great stuff that most of the public has never seen before.

To say that this is Martin Smith’s best work yet might be selling it short.  This Horizons Ultimate Tribute is better than anything the Walt Disney Company could churn out itself. It’s insightful, well edited and executed. It stands as a testament to just how amazing these attractions were and to those of us who loved it, it’s a fitting tribute to an attraction that meant an awful lot to us.  As much as I miss Horizons, it’s nice to know that the legacy lives on in these videos. Thanks again, Martin Smith!
