Even though the Disney Dream took it’s inaugural voyage in January of 2011, the ship is already getting upgraded in the Fall of 2015.
At Disney’s Oceaneers Club, younger cruisers will have the opportunity to join the Rebel Alliance in a new play area inspired by the Millennium Falcon inspired by the ship from the Star Wars films. Children can pilot the spaceship through hyperspace and trigger lightspeed jumps to different locations around the galaxy. In addition, there will be arts and crafts Star Wars activities as well as Star Wars video games being offered.
The popular Jedi Training Academy, which has been in Disney parks for years now will also have it’s own show aboard the Disney Dream. For those unfamiliar, young “Padawans” learn how to use a light sabor and end up facing off against Darth Vader.
Another addition to the Oceaneer’s Club will be the Disney Infinity Toy Box where kids can play one-of-a-kind versions of the popular Disney Infinity video games on board the Disney Dream. Special activities will bring the virtual gameplay experience to life in the real world. For example, a life-sized Disney Infinity Base sets the stage where children take the place of character figures for a group gaming experience unlike any other. Lighting up in response to gameplay on a large screen, this interactive floor will allow kids to be immersed in the Toy Box.
Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats will feature handmade gelato and ice cream, an assortment of candy, and novelty treats. Resembling the whimsical candy land of the Sugar Rush race car game in “Wreck It Ralph.” The sweet shop’s décor features nods to the film, including a race track and checkerboard patterned floor, gas pump-style gumball dispensers, Vanellope’s race car and King Candy’s throne. This specialty store coming to Deck 11 will have two entrances, inside Cabana’s restaurant and outside by the pool deck.
In addition, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be coming to Deck 5 aboard the Disney Dream. Just like on land, guests three to twelve years of age can transform into a princess (or a knight) with the help of special “Fairy Godmothers” who will give them the makeover. On Pirate Night, the Boutique transforms into the Pirate League, just like in the Magic Kingdom where adults and kids will have the chance to get a pirate makeover to coincide with the Pirates In The Caribbean Deck Party.
Following the ship’s dry dock Oct. 4-24, 2015, the enhancements to the Disney Dream will debuts on the October 26 voyage.
