Chances are, if you’re reader of Theme Park University, you have either currently or once worked in a theme park. As anyone who has ever had those front line jobs like attractions, merchandise or entertainment can tell you that the lessons learned and the friendships made can forge a path for the rest of your life.

Recently I was invited to a private screening of a yet-to-be-released film called Characterz,  which is a charming independent film about the ups and downs of being trapped in a fur suit while working in a theme park. Check out the trailer below!

Characterz was created by the talented folks at Renaissance Entertainment, best known for Hard Rock Park, Ghost & Legends of the Queen Mary and projects they can’t discuss until 2016 (gaahh!!). In particular, the film loosely follows the career of Renaissance CEO Jon Binkowski, who started off playing costume characters for Sea World San Diego when he was a teenager.

Orlando locals will recognize filming locations like Old Town and Gatorland, as well as many talented actors who work in and around the theme parks in Characterz. I can’t wait to tell you all about it, but I have been sworn to secrecy until the movie makes the rounds of film festivals. It should be ready for release in 2016 and until then, you can find out how the film is doing and when it will be released on the Characterz Facebook Page!
