Theme Park Parody Show “The Spielers” to Debut at Orlando Fringe in May 2017

If you’ve ever had the privilege of working at a spieling attraction, you know that you’re part of a special and unique club. Whether you were (or are) a Jungle skipper, Jaws skipper or tram operator at Kongfrontation, you know that the job is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Now there is a show to poke fun at this line of work and I personally can’t wait for “The Spielers” at Orlando Fringe Festival 2017!

According to “The Spielers” GoFundMe page, the show is described as such: “When the leader of an expedition goes missing inside an ancient temple, it’s up to a motley crew of tour guides to find him and save the world. Simply put, “The Spielers” is the early 2000s movie adaptation of some certain guided tour theme park rides we never asked for, complete with bad puns, gender neutral names, and a roster of modestly impressive special effects… When they work.”

I know many readers of Theme Park University have worked at spieling attractions. And Orlando Fringe Fest may be the best place on the planet to debut “The Spielers” since most of the scripted attractions are located just down the road from the Orlando Shakespeare Center. The creators of “The Spielers” are currently seeking extra funding to create the sets, costumes and effects for the show. If you can spare a few bucks head on over to their GoFundMe Page and check out the video below for a message from the creative team!
