I may need a towel. If what I read in the New York Times this morning is true, a new magic-centric immersive theater show is headed to NYC and Neil Patrick Harris is collaborating on it.
While this may not be Earth shattering news to you, I am beyond words thrilled about it. This project could very well be the culmination of all things that I love. If you’ve followed Theme Park University, you’ll know that we have covered immersive theater many, many, many, many times here.
We have also covered magic-based themed entertainment at TPU over and over and over again. From unique stories like Yale Gracey’s diorama at the Magic Castle, which sold Walt on the concept of the Haunted Mansion, to interviewing Franz Harary on his new multi-million dollar show in Macau, this is what I live for.
Currently, there aren’t a lot of details about the project that have been released. We know that NPH is working with Randy Weiner, who has produced Queen of the Night and Sleep No More, and it’s expected to open in the fall. Details are currently being worked out on cuisine, set design and choreography with workshops scheduled to start this summer. Stay tuned to Theme Park University as more details are released and you can bet we will be covering more of this currently unnamed project as it unfolds.
