Walt Disney World Officially Gets Into the Escape Room Business

Disney recently announced a new offering at the Walt Disney World Resort which has been a growing trend sweeping the globe in themed entertainment. Escape rooms have been popping up everywhere and now you can play one at Disney in Orlando!

Disney Escape Room 5

The Escape Challenge is available as an exclusive offering for corporate groups from the Disney Meetings team. The game can be set up in most convention rooms or theme park meeting spaces depending on the size of the group, time and budget.

Groups are split into small teams and brought into one of several themed rooms to search for clues and solve puzzles. In Disney’s version, there are actors involved to help guide them along their way.

Disney Escape Room 3

These steampunk-inspired characters give Guests the mission to find the “Stone of Stones” in order to save the element of time and preserve the history of the world.

As the participants travel back in time, they find themselves locked inside the first room—the captain’s quarters of an abandoned pirate ship, full of old maps, navigational tools, gleaming gems and gold coins. The team must work together to search throughout the room and unlock clues to a hidden message. Only then can they “escape” their temporary prison.

Disney Escape Room 2

After escaping the first room, participants then find themselves in the second, even more perplexing predicament—locked inside the laboratory of a mad scientist. Filled with creepy experiments gone awry, this room features hidden traps and misdirection around every corner. Only by working together can the team solve the complicated clues and cunning challenges to win the game and ultimately, save time.

I’d love to get a group together to try this out sometime. Who’s with me? Want to see our other coverage for escape rooms here at Theme Park University? Click these links: Orlando, Niagara Falls, Los Angeles and more!

I would have thought that a fixed location for this would be better than have it able to tour round the hotel function spaces as it would let them build a better set and have more complex puzzles and props.

There must be somewhere in WDW that could host it.
