Shanghai Disneyland Drone Footage Surfaces

A great video recently surfaced of a drone flying over Shanghai Disneyland and it gives a great perspective on how enormous and truly different this Magic Kingdom will be from its predecessors. I have linked to the footage below, but a few things to point out that I found interesting.

First of all, despite the logo at the top of the video, this was not produced by Disney Parks. We have covered this repeatedly at TPU: the Chinese government often turns a blind eye for use of unauthorized copyrighted logos, bootlegged DVDs and even blatant character ripoffs. However, they are slowly working on it.

Another thing to notice is that this footage was not shot with a special filter which gives the overall quality of the video a hazy finish. In reality, the air quality of Shanghai is sometimes less than stellar. The video gives a more realistic view of how the skies look some days as opposed to the polished versions you will no doubt see coming from the Mouse in years to come.

The real meat and potatoes here is a great aerial view of how the rides are laid out and how all of this comes together. Seen above is part of the track for Voyage of the Crystal Grotto, a boat ride through scenes from Disney films that eventually winds under the castle.

Above is the enormous viewing area for Storybook Castle stage shows and fireworks. This seems very similar to the World of Color viewing area in Paradise Pier at Disney’s California Adventure. A great addition to the hub of the park that can keep traffic flowing for Guests not wanting to watch the shows.

In the shot above you’ll notice the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train to the left. This was taken from the back of Fantasyland looking at the back of Storybook Castle. The video is attached below. I do not take ownership of it and I honestly have no idea who uploaded it, but thanks for giving us this great footage!
