Now that Shanghai Disneyland is officially open, I’d like to share some of the videos we shot while visiting the resort. Without question, if you are a Disney fan, it is worth the visit. The attention to detail and unique attractions make it my second favorite Disney park in the world, just behind Disneyland.
Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for Sunken Treasure is easily the best dark ride on the planet right now. No matter how many videos you’ve seen of it by now (including the one above), it doesn’t do it justice. A brilliant and seamless blend of gorgeous sets, special effects and projection technology.
Mickey Avenue is a fantastic twist on the traditional Main Street we all know and love from other Magic Kingdoms. Also, my absolute favorite soundtrack from any themed land in any park anywhere in the world. If someone actually has a copy of this music, I would love to have it!
Another favorite, Barbossa’s Bounty has to be the best themed quick service dining location I have seen anywhere in a Disney park. Each room is filled with nods to characters from the film and is just dripping with detail from the unique stories the restaurant tells. A must watch!
The Camp Discovery Challenge Trail was a pleasant surprise. No other Disney park would have the guts to try a ropes course inside a park that’s included with admission. While photography and filming isn’t allowed on the trail itself, I did manage to get the above video showcasing some highlights from the unique walk-through attraction.
While I am also not a fan of walk-through attractions in general, I very much enjoyed walking through the Alice in Wonderland Maze at night. The views of the castle and lighting are truly gorgeous and the music is perfection.
And another surprise was just the queue for Once Upon a Time Adventure inside Storybook Castle. Just incredible with the views of the center atrium and the princesses along the staircase.
The attraction itself is a charming update to the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through in Disneyland with new technology and interactivity.
No doubt, Shanghai Disneyland’s version of Peter Pan’s Flight is by far the best in the world. Aside from the gorgeous sets and projections, the ride vehicles speed up and slow down throughout the ride and give a small thrill to the attraction that previous versions could never achieve.
Royal Banquet Hall is in my top three favorite theme park restaurants anywhere. The dining rooms were stunning, the food was fantastic and wonderfully themed and I think the character costumes are wonderful. Enjoy the tour above!
Finally, our tour of Treasure Cove at night is one of my favorite things to film. Nighttime is easily my favorite time to be in any Disney park and I was lucky enough to have it virtually to myself. Enjoy this tour that leads right through the queue of Pirates of the Caribbean!
